A lifelong passion for creating beautiful things, as well as a strong desire to share that with
young students, has brought Donna to spend her time both making and teaching art. 

Many different techniques are employed in her silk painting to achieve
one of a kind results. She mixes her own dyes, and is constantly
searching for the right colors and combinations.

Free motion sewing (a technique of "drawing" with the sewing machine)
often finishes a design. Her painted and sewn designs become lovely
pillows, pouches, scarves and wall hangings.

Producing a limited number of pieces, she sells her work at Silk & Clay Studio
and at the Store @ DeCordova Museum.

After many years of teaching at DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, Donna Melanson now
teaches exclusively at Silk & Clay Studio.
