Donna Melanson has had a lifelong passion for drawing, painting and
sewing. Many years of private art lessons and a Mom who taught her
how to sew, design and create beautiful things, led Donna to
focus in Art and Psychology at Regis College.
Many different techniques are employed in her silk painting to achieve
one of a kind results. She mixes her own dyes, and is constantly
searching for the right colors and combinations.
Free motion sewing (a technique of "drawing" with the sewing machine)
often finishes a design. Her painted and sewn designs become lovely
pillows, pouches and scarves.
Producing a limited number of pieces, she sells her work at Silk
& Clay Studio and DeCordova Art Museum.
Teaching brings back the warm memories of being a student. Melanson
enjoyed her many years at DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, and now
teaches exclusively at Silk & Clay Studio.
