Nurture Your Creativity!

Children love taking classes at Silk & Clay Studio. It’s a cozy space with a ‘clubhouse’ feeling. It’s where we make our own art, so there is always something to look at and talk about. We teach important skills with an emphasis on building confidence and creativity. We believe that children can make beautiful artwork when they are relaxed and having fun.

Class size is limited, so sign up early!

July 13 – 17: One-A-Day: Fine Art Grades 3 – 6
Each day we will focus on a different Famous Artist(s) and create in their style.
Sign up for as many days as you like.

Monday: Pencil/Charcoal
Tuesday: Pastel
Wednesday: Oil Pastel
Thursday: Collage
Friday: Watercolor

July 20 – 24:One-A-Day: Hand Crafts Grades 2 - 5
Each day we will focus on a different medium including, clay, sculpture, printing and
fiber art. Sign up for as many days as you like.

July 27 – 31: One-A-Day: Art Grades Pre K – Grade 1
Each day we will focus on a different medium including, clay, sculpture, printing and
fiber art. Sign up for as many days as you like.

August 11, 12, 13: Ceramics Grades 3 – 6
Make fabulous clay projects using different hand building techniques.
Paint each piece using a variety of colorful glazes.
All work will be kiln fired.

$50 per day; includes all materials.

Session 5 Classes

Paint, Clay, Print and More: 4- 6 Year Olds
Monday, 1:30 - 3:00 pm
Have fun exploring with all sorts of medium to make 2D and 3D works of art. Children will be given general guidelines and taught basic techniques, then encouraged to express their vivid imaginations. All clay work will be kiln fired. Limit 10. Teachers: Donna Melanson & Mary Morazzi Henderson
May 4 – June 8 (no class May 25)
$85 (5 weeks) includes materials.

Paint, Clay, Print and More: Grades 1 - 4
Monday, 4:00 - 5:30 pm
Learn fundamental techniques to create 2D and 3D works of art in various medium. All projects will share a common theme. For example, the students might work from a still life to form a sculpture in clay, then again to produce a painting. All clay work will be kiln fired. Limit 10.

May 4 – June 8 (no class May 25)
$85 (5 weeks) includes materials.

Art Quilt: Adults
Tuesday, 10 – 12pm
Create a work of art using simple cotton fabrics and an endless variety of embellishments. Some sewing experience is a must. The finished art quilt will be fairly small, no larger than 12” x 12”, and can become a wall hanging or pillow cover. Limit 4. Teacher: Donna Melanson
May 5 – May 26
$90 (4 weeks), does not include fabric.

Sewing: Grades 3 – 7
Tuesday, 4:00 - 5:30pm
Sew small useful items such as a purse, pouch and pillow, while learning invaluable hand and machine sewing techniques. We will follow a pattern as well as create patterns of our own. Nothing is more gratifying than knowing how to do it yourself! Limit 4. Teacher: Donna Melanson
May 5 – June 2
$90 (5 weeks) includes materials.

Ceramics: Grades 4 - 7
Wednesday, 4:00 - 5:30pm
A mask, box, tray or sculpture are some of the fun projects you might make with clay, using different hand building techniques. Paint each piece using a variety of colorful glazes. Attention to detail and individual creative expression are important. All work will be kiln fired. Limit 6.

May 13 – June 10
$85 (5 weeks) includes materials and firing fees.

Ceramics: Adults
Thursday, 11 – 1pm
Do something fun for yourself! Come and learn basic hand building and
glazing techniques to make pottery that works in your home or will make a great gift.
Designing projects to fit your style will be encouraged. All work will be kiln fired. Limit 4. Teacher: Mary Morazzi-Henderson

Drawing & Painting: Grades 3 - 6
Thursday, 4:00 - 5:30pm
Create portrait, still life, landscape and abstract works of art while learning foundation skills. Mediums might include pencil, pastel, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic. Critiques will bring out the best in each child’s work while focusing on individual style and expression. Limit 6.

May 14 – June 11
$80 (5 weeks) includes materials.

Knitting Basics: Grade 4 - Adult
Thursday, 4 - 5:30 pm
Learn basic knitting techniques: casting on, knitting rows, increasing/decreasing and casting off stitches. Yarn and knitting needles will be provided for use in class, or if you prefer, bring your own yarn, needles and basic patterns.

DESIGN YOUR OWN CLASS

Sometimes our class schedule doesn't work with yours…
How about designing a class to fit your needs and your schedule?
Your class could meet any day, any time, and run for any duration.
All ages are welcome!

Here's what you need to do:
Contact us with your idea and available dates.
Organize your group.
Get back to us with the number of students.
Have each student fill out a Registration form and send it in with their payment.

Some Suggestions:
An evening with a group of your friends
A Saturday, After School, Early Release, or Vacation week class
Something for the family
For your club (4H, scouts, youth group, etc)
Home Schooled children, with or without parents
Something for your preschooler (with a Parent/Grandparent or other children)
Private lessons for you, your child or your grandchild

Our Fee's: Private: $20 per hour
Semi Private (2 students): $15 per student/per hour
